James Goettsch, FAIA, Chairman, Co-CEO and Design Director, Goettsch Partners, is the recipient of the 2019 CTBUH Lynn S. Beedle Lifetime Achievement Award. With more than 40 years of professional experience, Goettsch has designed tall buildings around the world.
Noteworthy projects include the 54-story, core-supported 150 North Riverside tower in Chicago; the 45-story, multi-terraced Park Tower at Transbay in San Francisco; and the 33-story original building (1997) and 24-story vertical addition (2010) to 300 East Randolph Street in Chicago, also known as the Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower.
Outside the US, Goettsch is best known for several standout projects, including the five-building, 529,000 square-meter Abu Dhabi Global Market Square office complex in the UAE, the two-building, Mennica Legacy Tower complex in Warsaw (currently under construction); the China Diamond Exchange Center in Shanghai; the 900-key Hilton Riyadh Hotel & Residences, scheduled to be the largest hotel in the city.
Goettsch has been a frequent presenter at CTBUH Conferences and Awards events, and a major supporter of the organization through the years.
